Coastal Plains Region
Location-
The Coastal Region makes up the southern half of Georgia.
Physical Features-
The Coastal Plains has the Chattahoochee, St. Mary, and the Savannah river. It also has the Okefenokee swamp all the way to the south of the region, and barrier islands on the coast.
Climate-
The Coastal Plains region is mild, with hot summers and mild winters with no snow. Along the coast, breezes blow in from the Atlantic.
Crops-
The Coastal Plains consists of rich sandy soil that is good for growing peanuts, sweet potatoes, tobacco, watermelon, pecans, peaches, corn, sweet vidalia onions, sugar cane, and cotton.
Minerals-
The Coastal Plains has igneous and metamorphic rock, sediments, and coal deposits.
Animals-
The Coastal Plains have deer, raccoon, coyotes, and armadillos. In swamp/marsh areas there are alligators, herons, and many kinds of snakes.
